Dr. Claudia Kawas, neurologist: Dr. Kawas, a professor of neurology and neurobiology & behavior at UC Irvine, is a clinician and researcher who concentrates on the epidemiology of aging and Alzheimer's disease, the determinants of successful aging, and most recently, studies in cognitive and functional abilities of the oldest old (over 90). She holds the Al and Trish Nichols Chair in Clinical Neuroscience, is vice-chair for research in the Department of Neurology and associate director of the Institute for Brain Aging and Dementia.
