GRAPHIC IDENTITY STANDARDS

Overview

A clear and consistent identity showcases the multiple strengths of the University of California, Irvine, one of the world’s premier institutions of higher learning.

This site outlines the campus’s graphic identity standards related to wordmarks, colors and graphic elements that create a strong visual identity and provides guidelines, downloadable files and examples. Related Nomenclature Guidelines and Communications Style Guide assist in communicating about the university in a manner consistent with the graphic identity standards. The University of California also offers a useful Graphic Identity Guide.

These standards apply to all visual representations of UC Irvine, including brochures, newsletters, electronic communications, websites and signage. The UC Irvine wordmark must be prominent in all public communications.

UC Irvine’s graphic standards revolve around these wordmarks, which are custom adaptations of the Minion typeface. Wordmark variations, suitable for a variety of formats, can be downloaded from this site. Campus unit nameplates and Web banners (which attach unit names to the UC Irvine wordmarks) are available from University Communications; click here to request assistance.

The standards do not apply to university letterhead and business cards, or other purposes requiring use of the university seal, which is subject to specific University of California policies. Use of the UC seal for purposes other than letterhead and business cards requires approval from University Communications. Contact 949-824-6490 or jmouledo@uci.edu for assistance.
