The School of Humanities comprises four fundamental areas of knowledge: history, literature, film and philosophy. With over 20 majors ranging from art history and comparative literature to literary journalism and philosophy, the school has achieved a national reputation for scholarly excellence and innovative programs. The Programs in Writing, the school’s M.F.A creative writing programs in fiction and poetry, have produced best-selling novelists, including Michael Chabon, Alice Sebold and Maile Meloy. Other areas of acclaim include the Critical Theory Institute, Center for International Writing and Translation, HumaniTech and the Center for Asian Studies.
